About Beastars

Beastars (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki. It was serialized in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion from September 2016 to October 2020, with its chapters collected in 22 tankōbon volumes. The manga is licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media. The story takes place in a modern world of civilized, anthropomorphic animals with a cultural divide between carnivores and herbivores, and where eating meat (which always comes from other anthropomorphic animals) is strictly illegal. The series takes its name from the in-universe title of Beastar, an individual of great talent, service, and notoriety.

Beast Complex (ビースターズ コンプレックス, Bīsuto konpurekkusu?) is a collection of secondary stories that involve anthropomorphic animals and their problems with coexistence with different species, be it a lion, a tiger, a wolf, a bat and many more. It was the debut Manga of Paru Itagaki.

An anime television series adaptation produced by Orange aired from October to December 2019 on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block. A second season aired from January to March 2021. A third and final season is set to premiere in 2024. The anime series is licensed by Netflix. The first season premiered outside of Japan in March 2020, and the second in July 2021.

Beastars Main characters

Legoshi: Legoshi has been a popular character in manga and anime. He was praised for the portrayal given in the narrative as a result of his coming-of-age arc conflicted with the series' setting, as well as his heroic characterization when searching for the murderer in the series' second season.

Haru: Haru is a well-endowed pure white dwarf rabbit. She has light cream-colored fur and the large, dark eyes of an actual rabbit. When she blinks, three small eyelashes can be seen. At the beginning of the series, she is typically seen wearing her school uniform.

Louis: Louis (ルイ, Rui?) is a main character in Beastars, being the deuteragonist to Legoshi. Louis was the head actor of the Cherryton Academy drama club and was the candidate for the title of Beastar. He also served as the boss of the Shishigumi for a time. Louis appears to be arrogant and self-righteous, but underneath him lies his insecurity about being physically weak.

Juno: Juno (ジュノ, Juno?) is a main character in Beastars and is a member of the drama club on the actor team. An affable she-wolf, she wished to become the next Beastar, competing against Louis.

Gohin: Gohin (ゴウヒン, Gōhin) is a giant panda who works as a psychiatrist and back-alley doctor, who treats and rehabilitates carnivores whose predatory instincts start to overtake them. He first encounters Legoshi when he passes out in the Black Market, and at first assumes that Legoshi is one of many carnivores succumbing to their feral instincts, but soon develops something of a friendship with him, eventually becoming a mentor of sorts to him.
